Il garante del benessere animale

Libero professionista, veterinario aziendale o di medicina pubblica, il compito comune è quello di individuare le corrette strategie atte a garantire il rispetto delle esigenze etologiche degli animali al fine di prevenire condizioni di disagio psichico ed eventuali problematiche comportamentali.

Il benessere animale è un concetto complesso, riguarda non solo lo stato di salute dell’animale, ma anche il suo stato emotivo. Un animale, sia da reddito sia da compagnia, si trova in un buono stato di benessere se è sano, ben nutrito, tranquillo in presenza dell’uomo, protetto da condizioni climatiche estreme, al sicuro dai predatori, se può esprimere i comportamenti tipici della specie e, inoltre, se non soffre a causa di dolore, paura, e ansia. Risulta dunque evidente che per garantire un buon benessere animale sono diverse le figure professionali coinvolte che devono interagire tra di loro e, tra queste, quella del medico veterinario ha un ruolo centrale...
